Infertility Is More Common Than You Think

Author : Dr. Sheikh Jeelani   / BNYS | FTECH

Once considered a taboo topic, infertility is now a mainstream discussion. This is a good thing, because promoting infertility awareness can help those who are struggling with it in several ways. First, people don’t have to suffer in isolation, and there is great hope in regard to the latest treatment options. And when personal stories are shared, there is greater empathy and understanding for those experiencing challenging fertility issues.

For cis-gender, heteronormative couples, the stats are clear: between 40-60% of the time, the issue is with a man’s sperm. There are many causes of male infertility; such as general aging, genetic factors, environmental exposures, seminal fluid abnormalities, and ductal system problems, to name just few.

So if you and your partner are having trouble conceiving, your next step will likely be a comprehensive semen analysis. Even if this lab test indicates there’s no sperm present, there are still several innovative options available to you. Keep in mind that treatment can take several months, so taking action sooner rather than later is often recommended, particularly if you’ve been trying to get pregnant for over a year. And even better, if you’d like to have a family but not sure when is right for you. It’s important for men to take action as early as possible and determine if Sperm Banking is right for them. A Man’s fertility (at present or in the future) can be at risk for a variety of reasons.

Life Imposes Things On You That You Cannot Control, But You Still Have The Choice Of How You are Going To Live Through This.
