What Is Rosacea?
Wondered what Rosacea's meaning is? Rosacea is a skin disease that typically appears in a few people during their 30s and 40s. It is marked by redness (erythema) of the face, flushing of the skin, and the presence of hard pimples (papules) or pus-filled pimples (pustules), and small visible spider-like veins called telangiectasias. In later stages of the disease, the face may swell, and the nose may take on a bulb-like appearance called rhinophyma.
Generally, this severe skin condition is also called adult acne or acne rosacea, but it has little effect on pimples and blackheads which commonly afflict teenagers.
It is very common in women. Rosacea is often more severe in men. It is not life-threatening. It is one of the cyclic conditions which most people suffer from. It may be active for a time, lessen in intensity, and then flare up again.
