Home remedies for white vaginal discharge in women.

Author : Dr. Qurat ul Ain   / BUMS

White discharge or leucorrhoea is a common problem among women. The problem is faced mostly by teenage girls. A little bit of white discharge is not an issue but too much of it is a matter of concern.

What causes white discharge?
Thick white discharge with vaginal itching can be due to yeast infection. Other causes of white discharge include not keeping the vaginal area clean, being over-anxious, and multiple nutritional deficiencies. Excess of white discharge can cause weakness and infections and thus it's important to get it treated. If the colour of the discharge is greyish-white, rusty, green, yellow or brown, it can be a serious concern.
Symptoms of white discharge include dizziness, fatigue, itching, weakness, odour from private parts, headache and constipation.

Many women experience some vaginal secretion which is good as it cleans the bacterial and fungal growth in the vagina. Even during sexual intercourse, lubrication is possible only due to the slippery surface with white discharge.

Here are some home remedies that can solve the problem of mild discharge.
1. Fenugreek seeds
Consuming fenugreek seeds boiled in water can solve the problem of white discharge. You can boil fenugreek seeds in 500 ml of water until the water is reduced to half. Then drink this water when it cools down.
2. Ladyfinger
Favourite of many and commonly called bhindi is another good remedy for treating the problem of white discharge. You can boil some ladyfinger in water and then churn it in the mixer. Some ladies also soak ladyfinger with yoghurt and then consume it.
3. Coriander seeds
Soak some fenugreek seeds in water overnight, strain and have it in the morning on an empty stomach. This is one of the easiest and safest home remedies to treat white discharge.
